Newt Gingrich never bothered to register newtgingrich.com

NewtGingrich.com is an anti-Newt website. As of just before noon on Wednesday, each time someone visits the site, they will find themselves at another site that represents an embarrassing element of the former speaker’s controversial past. It’s obviously being run by a person or group opposed to the candidate.

Gingrich Takes Aim at Legal System

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich came out swinging Saturday against the nation's legal system, pledging if elected to defy Supreme Court rulings with which he disagrees and declaring that a 200-year-old principle of American government, judicial review to ensure that the political branches obey the Constitution, had been "grossly overstated."

I know he's really just on a book tour and NOT actually running. BUT, he is currently the republican frontrunner, and that alone is quite scary!

Also, this guy claims he's a historian, but he apparently forgot the 6th grade civics lesson we all learned from Marbury v. Madison.

Romney ad misleads its way to desired result

In the ad, Obama appears to be saying, “If we keep talking about the economy, we’re going to lose.” But in fact, when he said that, Obama was quoting an aide to then-2008 opponent Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who had used those words anonymously in an interview.

This is the best the republicans can do?

Wowza!

AFL-CIO urges unions to treat Occupy DC as picket line

Despite police raids on numerous Occupy Wall Street encampments around the country, protesters in Baltimore and the District have so far been allowed to pitch tents in high-profile locations, including McPherson Square on K Street Downtown. Though local unions have already been supporting the protesters, including offering them jackets and access to showers, the new AFL-CIO resolution could make it more difficult for local elected leaders to push to break up the camps

More unions need to do the same. This is the only way to contain the out of control police.

Watch: ‘Occupy Oakland’ protester shot by rubber bullet while filming cops

In a video published to YouTube, an unidentified protester holding a video camera, filming a police line during the early hours of Thursday, Nov. 3, is apparently shot with a rubber bullet even after repeatedly asking officers, “Is this okay?”

Rubber bullets, though considered non-lethal, have killed people before. They can also cause serious internal injuries and even break bones. Despite their name, rubber bullets are small metal cylinders merely coated with a layer of rubber, and can be launched from traditional firearms.

What the fuck???

This cop should be arrested and charged with attempted murder. There was NO excuse for that.

None.

Zero.

Audience Members At Fox News Debate Boo Gay Soldier

Rick Santorum answered the question, and said that the repeal of the military’s ban on openly gay servicemembers was granting them special rights. From the debate transcript:

I would say any type of sexual activity has no place in the military. The fact they are making a point to include it as a provision within the military that we are going to recognize a group of people and give them a special privilege to and removing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell I think tries to inject social policy into the military. And the military’s job is to do one thing to defend our the military, wh I all-volunteer the ability to do so in a way that is [Inaudible]

Qwikster From Netflix: The Worst Product Launch Since New Coke?

As any marketer will tell you, there are some truly awful times to launch a new product — like August, when few potential customers are paying attention, or January, when they’re all shopped out from the holidays.

And then there’s launching your new product in the tenth paragraph of an apology for some previous poor communication, as Netflix CEO Reed Hastings did late Sunday with Qwikster, the new name for Netflix’s DVD-by-mail service.

What The F. were they thinking? Seriously, raise my price by 60 %, lose a huge content producer, now this???

I was canceling NF anyways, but this makes it easier to outright cancel and not just suspend my account like I did last time.

Malloy Calls Ron Paul an Idiot

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy (D) shocked CNN’s Christine Romans Wednesday with his response to Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul’s suggestion that FEMA wasn’t necessary for responding to natural disasters.

“I think he’s an idiot,” Malloy stated.

“That’s blunt,” Romans replied, laughing. “That’s quite blunt.”

Malloy continued: “We’re spending $900 million a week in wars, and he is arguing about whether we should spend some amount of money? FEMA now has currently $900 million budget available to it. This is a ridiculous conversation. Really don’t understand what he’s talking about, and I’m not sure he does.

Tea Party Harmony by Mike In Raleigh

Scroll Reverser

A MUST have for any 10.7 Lion Users!!!!

Tuesday, August 02, 2011

I Officially FUCKING HATE Lion, OS X (10.7)

1) Open Safari or Mail (if they were previously in fullscreen mode), and it creates a new desktop. A new desktop that precedes the one you were in, so if it was blank, you've now got an empty desktop added to your "mission control."

2) I don't want Safari to remember my open tabs! When I'm surfing stuff with multiple tabs open and hit command-Q, there is a fucking reason! I don't need it to all reload (with pop-ups - even though pop up blocking is enabled) when I'm demonstrating something else to my mother in law.

3) Fine Tuning audio is again gone from Mac OS (Used to be option+shift+volume). I guess that's too complicated for Jobsian Mac users though.

4) Full screen would be cool if it were actually full screen. The only benefit I see is that in that "MODE" I can no longer access the dock without switching to a different desktop.

5) I frequently CANNOT close tabs in Safari. I often have MANY tabs open at once and switch between them. If I want to close one, I want the option. The new Safari almost always gives me shit (i.e., the window won't show the damn X).

6) For Chrissakes, there are TWO DIFFERENT settings for scrolling. One for mouse scrolling, one for trackpad scrolling. YET, changing ONE setting automatically changes the other! WTF???? I want the trackpad to move like an iOS device and my mouse to scroll the way it always has. Is this so freaking difficult??!!??

There's more, and it will come.

This has to be the shittiest release Apple has made...certainly NOT ready for prime time...

DHHS to make birth control free for all women

In July, an Institute of Medicine report recommended making contraceptives free to all women.

That report came under immediate fire from conservatives like Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly.

“Many women who get pregnant are blasted out of their minds when they have sex, and they’re not going to use birth control anyway,” O’Reilly said last month.

Of course Bill O'Reilly can't help being a complete pig about it...

Bachmann says she has the ‘spirit’ of John Wayne… Gacy

“Well what I want them to know is just like, John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa. That’s the kind of spirit that I have, too,” she told Fox News prior to the official announcement of her candidacy in Waterloo.

Conservative newspaper The Washington Times was first to point out that the presidential hopeful had picked the wrong John Wayne.

“Waterloo’s John Wayne was not the beloved movie star, but rather John Wayne Gacy, the serial killer,” Stephen Dinan wrote.

Sarah Palin Quites AGAIN!

Though Palin and her staff never announced a timeline for the remaining legs of her trip, aides had drafted preliminary itineraries that would have taken her through the Midwest and Southeast at some point this month. But those travel blueprints are now in limbo, RCP has learned, as Palin and her family have reverted to the friendly confines of summertime Alaska, where the skies are currently alight for over 19 hours a day and the Bristol Bay salmon fishing season is nearing its peak.

Breastfeeding ‘Nurse In' at Trumbull Mall

"She was told by a security guard that she needed to cover up," nurse-in organizer Danielle Elwood said, "and at that point she felt really uncomfortable and she left the mall for the day."

Elwood organized the protest to raise awareness.

"I was outraged," she said. "I was really upset because moms shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable."

And it is illegal. Connecticut is one of 44 states where it is against the law to restrict or prohibit breastfeeding in any way, including asking moms to cover up. But it's still controversial. Even advocates aren't always so keen on it. Elwood herself doesn't nurse her one-month old in the open.

Why the hell is this even necessary in these times? My wife uses a cover, but that's more for HER comfort not anyone else's. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST FUCKING NATURAL THINGS WE DO! And some nutjobs take offense to that???

BREAKING: MSNBC Suspends Ed Schultz Over ‘Unacceptable’ Remarks

MSNBC has announced that Ed Schultz will be given a one week suspension without pay for “unacceptable” comments Schultz made, calling Laura Ingraham a “right wing slut,” and then, in a second comment, a “talk slut.”

Dude never learned from the whole Anna Nicole Smith fiasco.

Or, rather, he refused to accept that he was in the wrong.

Maybe now that the stakes are a little higher, and he DOES answer to someone above him, he'll finally "get it."

Buried in this Robert Fisk report for The Independent is a startling account of the Egyptian army refusing to move with tanks against the Tahrir Square protesters on January 30. Seriously Messed Up!

Bill O'Reilly, P. H. D. (PILED HIGHER AND DEEPER)

Wow. I guess O’Reilly hasn’t discovered Google. Or any astronomy textbook written in the past thirty years. Because we know how the Moon got there (a Mars-sized planet struck the Earth a glancing blow about 100 million years after it formed, splashing debris into orbit which coalesced to form the Moon). And we know how the Sun got there (a small region of a vast cloud of gas and dust collapsed under its own gravity, compressed in the center, ignited nuclear fusion, and Our Star was born).

It gets worse. He asks why we have a Moon, and Mars doesn’t. Pssst, Bill: Mars has two moons. Venus doesn’t have a moon, but if our theory is correct about how we got our Moon then it was a singular, unusual event, so it’s not surprising Venus doesn’t have one.

And I facepalm...Again...

Palin: Sputnik Led to Collapse of Soviet Union

"That was another one of those WTF moments when [Mr. Obama] so often repeated the 'Sputnik Moment' that he would aspire Americans to celebrate. He needs to remember that what happened back then with the former communist USSR and their victory in that race to space, yeah, they won, but they also incurred so much debt at the time that it led to the inevitable collapse of the Soviet Union."

GOP’s symbolic reading of Constitution to cost taxpayers $1.1 million

It will cost taxpayers over $1 million dollars for Republicans to recite the entire United States Constitution on the House floor Thursday.

In a year when Republicans have promised to reduce wasteful spending, it is estimated that reciting the Constitution will cost $1,071,872.87 if it takes three hours to read the document.

"When one chamber of Congress is in session but not working, we the people still have to pay for members' salaries and expenses, and for their police protection, and for keeping their lights and phones and coffee machines on," Peter Keating explained to Vanity Fair.
