Obama ‘outraged’ by Wright’s ‘appalling’ comments

Barack Obama said the Jeremiah Wright who’s reinserted himself into the spotlight over the last few days “was not the person that I met 20 years ago,” and he condemned his former pastor’s eagerness to grab headlines with controversial statements in the most forceful language he’s used so far.

“His comments were not only divisive and destructive,” Obama said, “but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who pray on hate.”

Obama said he was particularly angered by Wright’s insinuation that his previous condemnation of the former pastor’s most controversial statements was simply a move of expedience in a heated campaign.

“If Rev. Wright thinks that is political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn’t know me very well,” Obama said. “And based on his remarks yesterday, well I may not know him as well as I thought either.”

It's sad that has come to this, but Obama had to do it.

Hillary supporter organized Wright event

"Shortly before he rose to deliver his rambling, angry, sarcastic remarks at the National Press Club Monday, [Rev. Jeremiah] Wright sat next to, and chatted with, Barbara Reynolds," The New York Daily News' Errol Lewis begins Tuesday.

"A former editorial board member at USA Today, she runs something called Reynolds News Services and teaches ministry at the Howard University School of Divinity," he adds. "It also turns out that Reynolds - introduced Monday as a member of the National Press Club "who organized" the event - is an enthusiastic Hillary Clinton supporter.

I am so sick of the dirty politics!

Spare No Expense For New Orleans!

“It's like putting a Band-Aid on the hole of a gas tank of an airplane,” the resident said.

Instead of an airplane, it's a floodwall, and instead of a Band-Aid, the witness says two years ago, he saw the contractor filling the expansion joint or opening between the floodwalls with newspaper.

“The whole length of the wall was stuffed with newspaper.”

And when he confronted the contractor, the contractor blamed Washington for the substandard work.

Someone should go to jail for this.

Bill Clinton Doesn't Like Barack

“I think this campaign has enraged him,” the adviser told me. “He doesn’t like Obama.” In private conversations, he has been dismissive of his wife’s rival. James Clyburn, an African-American congressman from South Carolina, told me that Clinton called him in the middle of the night after Obama won that state’s primary and raged at him for fifty minutes. “It’s pretty widespread now that African-Americans have lost a whole lot of respect for Bill Clinton,” Clyburn said.

Well, that's a shocker...

Cheney lawyer claims Congress has no authority over vice-president

The lawyer for US vice-president Dick Cheney claimed today that the Congress lacks any authority to examine his behaviour on the job.

The exception claimed by Cheney's counsel came in response to requests from congressional Democrats that David Addington, the vice-president's chief of staff, testify about his involvement in the approval of interrogation tactics used at Guantanamo Bay.

Ruling out voluntary cooperation by Addington, Cheney lawyer Kathryn Wheelbarger said Cheney's conduct is "not within the [congressional] committee's power of inquiry".

"Congress lacks the constitutional power to regulate by law what a vice-president communicates in the performance of the vice president's official duties, or what a vice president recommends that a president communicate," Wheelbarger wrote to senior aides on Capitol Hill.

Wow! He has no regard for the constitution whatsoever.

Underground Fires that Burn For Decades

Sometimes a fire just won't go out. Uzbekistan is home to a place called Darvaz, nicknamed by locals "the door to hell." It's a semi-underground gas fire that's been burning nonstop for 35 years. Find out why, and see some close-up pictures of this hellmouth after the jump, plus another fire in Pennsylvania that has also been burning underground for over 30 years.

I thought this was pretty cool!

BUSH CAMEO SINKS DEAL OR NO DEAL

THIS was one deal NBC could have refused.

President Bush's videotaped cameo on Monday's "Deal or No Deal" didn't spur much interest - tying the show's worst-ever Monday-night performance.

Monday's show averaged 10 million viewers, down 27 percent from its season average.

I'm somehow not surprised.

Limbaugh: "Riot In Denver!"

Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh called for Democrats to riot in Denver at the Democratic National Convention in August. Local news outlets were understandably appalled.

I can't imagine the media firestorm if an Obama supporter advocated violence at a political convention or at any other gathering. Fox News would be playing that nonstop, Hannity would have a field day.

So, should we start holding all politicians and media blowhards to the same standard?

I want to know whether John McCain or any of his people are regular Rush Limbaugh listeners. I want to ask the people in his campaign: "How could you sit and listen to that show for 20 years, knowing that these were the types of views that Mr. Limbaugh subscribed to?"

They should pull his FCC license for this.

Pelosi: Obama/Clinton not a 'good ticket'

Speaker Nancy Pelosi says either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton would be a good president but that she wouldn't push them to join up as running mates.

Speaking to Larry King on a show airing tonight, King asks the future Democratic convention chair whether she would pair the two if it were in her power.

"I don't think it's a good idea," Pelosi says, according to a partial transcript. "I think that first of all that the candidates, whoever he or she may be, should choose his or her own vice presidential candidate."

There's plenty of talent to go around to build a "good, strong ticket," says Pelosi. "I'm not one of those who thinks that that's a good ticket."

I agree with her.

U.S. contracted ship fires warning shots in Gulf

A civilian ship working for the U.S. military fired warning shots at two small boats that approached it in the Persian Gulf, the U.S. Navy said Friday.

The Western Venture was in international waters in the central Gulf on Thursday morning when it was approached by two small boats of unknown origin, said Cmdr. Lydia Robertson, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet.

"Following proper procedures, Western Venture issued standard queries to the small boats via bridge-to-bridge radio but received no response," said Robertson. "Western Venture then activated a flare but again did not receive a response."

The small boats continued toward the ship, and the ship's security team fired warning shots with .50-caliber machine guns and M-16s into the water in front of the boats, causing them to leave the area, said Robertson.

They're just trying to escalate.

Thomas Breaks Press’s 14 Day Silence On Bush’s Torture Approval, Chides Colleagues: ‘Where Is Everybody?’

THOMAS: The president has said […] we do not torture. Now he has admitted that he did sign off on torture, he did know about it. So how do you reconcile this credibility gap? […]

PERINO: The United States has not, is not torturing any detainees in the global war on terror. And General Hayden, amongst others, have spoken on Capitol Hill fully in this regard. […] And you can go back through all the public record.

Kudos to Helen Thomas for being one of the last real reporters.

McCain opposes equal pay bill in Senate

Republican Sen. John McCain, campaigning through poverty-stricken cities and towns, said Wednesday he opposes a Senate bill that seeks equal pay for women because it would lead to more lawsuits.

Senate Republicans killed the bill Wednesday night on a 56-42 vote that denied the measure the 60 votes needed to advance it to full debate and a vote. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., had delayed the vote to give McCain's Democratic rivals, Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, time to return to Washington to support the measure, which would make it easier for women to sue their employers for pay discrimination.

McCain skipped the vote to campaign in New Orleans.

We don't need 4 more years of this crap.

Jenna Bush: I may not support McCain

KING: Do you have a favorite between the two, the two Democrats?

LAURA BUSH: My favorite is the Republican.

KING (pointing to Jenna): Yours too, I would imagine.

JENNA BUSH: I don't know.

KING: A-ha! Are you open to...

JENNA BUSH: Yeah, of course. I mean, who isn't open to learning about the candidates and I'm sure that everybody's like that.

Clueless in America

Ignorance in the United States is not just bliss, it’s widespread. A recent survey of teenagers by the education advocacy group Common Core found that a quarter could not identify Adolf Hitler, a third did not know that the Bill of Rights guaranteed freedom of speech and religion, and fewer than half knew that the Civil War took place between 1850 and 1900.

This is truly scary!

Amnesty unveils shock 'waterboarding' film

An American expert in torture techniques has denounced his government for allowing "waterboarding" to be practised against terror suspects, just as a graphic advertisement showing the brutal reality of the technique is unveiled to British cinema-goers.

Malcolm Nance, who trained hundreds of US servicemen and women to resist interrogation by putting them through "waterboarding" exercises, demanded an immediate end to the practice by all US personnel.

He said: "They seem to think it is worth throwing the honour of 220 years of American decency in war out of the window. Waterboarding is out-and-out torture, and I'm deeply ashamed President Bush has authorised its use and dragged the US's reputation into the mud."

Nixon's daughter gives to Obama

One of President Nixon's daughters, Julie Nixon Eisenhower, apparently supports a Democrat in this year's presidential contest — Barack Obama.

Eisenhower has contributed the maximum amount allowed during the primary season to Obama's campaign: $2,300. Federal Election Commission records show she gave Obama's campaign $1,000 on Feb. 4, another $1,000 on Feb. 18 and $300 on March 5.

One of her father's staunchest defenders during the Watergate scandal, she married the grandson of another Republican president, David Eisenhower, just before her father took office.

Since her father's resignation, she has written several books and is now co-chair of the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Birthplace Foundation.

Hillary Can Still Win!

Ha!

Sadr threatens open warfare in Iraq. Rice calls him a coward. Surely this will end well.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice mocked anti-American cleric Muqtada al-Sadr as a coward on Sunday, hours after the radical leader threatened to declare war unless U.S. and Iraqi forces end a military crackdown on his followers.
::
"I know he's sitting in Iran," Rice said dismissively, when asked about al-Sadr's latest threat to lift a self-imposed cease-fire with government and U.S. forces. "I guess it's all-out war for anybody but him," Rice said. "I guess that's the message; his followers can go to their deaths and he's in Iran."

Good God! It's a miracle anyone is still alive with these assholes in charge.

Clinton Ends March With $10.3 Million in Debt

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign is continuing to struggle to stay ahead of its bills, finishing March with just $9.3 million in the bank for the primary, coupled with $10.3 million in debt, according to a report filed last night with the Federal Election Commission.

In contrast, Senator Barack Obama had amassed a $42 million war chest for the primary by the end of March and had less than $700,000 in unpaid bills.

She's really getting desperate.

Army Doubled Use Of Felony Waivers For Surge

Under pressure to increase their numbers, the Army and Marine Corps have sharply raised the number of recruits with felony convictions they are admitting to the services.

Data released by a congressional committee shows that the number of soldiers admitted to the Army with felony records jumped from 249 in 2006 to 511 in 2007. And the number of Marines with felonies rose from 208 to 350.

The bulk of the crimes involved were burglaries, other thefts, and drug offenses, but nine involved sex crimes and six involved manslaughter or vehicular homicide convictions. Several dozen Army and Marine recruits had aggravated assault or robbery convictions, including incidents involving weapons.

Clinton Lies Again!

"Moveon.org endorsed [Sen. Barack Obama] -- which is like a gusher of money that never seems to slow down," Clinton said to a meeting of donors. "We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn't even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that's what we're dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me."

I guess when the "piss off 40 states strategy" doesn't work, it's time to attack the rest of the activist base with republican talking points.

Yes, I am a proud member of MoveOn.org.

No, we didn't oppose the war in Afghanistan, as Karl Rove, and now Hillary Clinton, says.

Did she mis-speak again? Or was it 3 AM and the former first lady needed a nap?

Frankly, I'd expect such comments from Grandpa McCain. She should be able to do better.

Robert Reich Endorses Obama

The formal act of endorsing a candidate is generally (and properly)limited to editorial pages and elected officials whose constituents might be influenced by their choice. The rest of us shouldn't assume anyone cares. My avoidance of offering a formal endorsement until now has also been affected by the pull of old friendships and my reluctance as a teacher and commentator to be openly partisan. But my conscience won't let me be silent any longer.

I believe that Barack Obama should be elected President of the United States.

Although Hillary Clinton has offered solid and sensible policy proposals, Obama's strike me as even more so. His plans for reforming Social Security and health care have a better chance of succeeding. His approaches to the housing crisis and the failures of our financial markets are sounder than hers. His ideas for improving our public schools and confronting the problems of poverty and inequality are more coherent and compelling. He has put forward the more enlightened foreign policy and the more thoughtful plan for controlling global warming.

He also presents the best chance of creating a new politics in which citizens become active participants rather than cynical spectators. He has energized many who had given up on politics. He has engaged young people to an extent not seen in decades. He has spoken about the most difficult problems our society faces, such as race, without spinning or simplifying. He has rightly identified the armies of lawyers and lobbyists that have commandeered our democracy, and pointed the way toward taking it back.

Finally, he offers the best hope of transcending the boundaries of class, race, and nationality that have divided us. His life history exemplifies this, as do his writings and his record of public service. For these same reasons, he offers the best possibility of restoring America's moral authority in the world.

This is pretty big. In case you don't know, Reich was Bill Clinton's first Secretary of Labor and a friend of both the former president and his wife for four decades.

The tide-swell continues to grow.

Should You Send It?

Myrick wants Carter's passport revoked

A North Carolina Republican member of Congress is calling for the State Department to revoke the passport of former President Jimmy Carter, who's been meeting, against the wishes of the U.S. Government, with representatives of the Palestinian terror group Hamas.

Congresswoman Sue Myrick of Charlotte, speaking on the Jeff Katz Show on WBT Radio, says Carter's actions have made a lot of people in the House extremely angry.

Officials with Hamas say the meeting with Carter will boost the group's legitimacy, despite criticism by the U.S. and Israel.

Conn. Students To Get Cash For Passing AP Tests

Students who pass Advanced Placement tests at Wilby High School in Waterbury will be getting hard cold cash rewards.

The students who pass their final AP tests next year will earn $100 for themselves for every test they pass.

The cash rewards are part of a new program to expand student participation in Wilby's Advanced Placement program. It is funded by a $451,113, grant from the National Math and Science Initiative.

In applying, Wilby Principal Robyn Apicella committed to doubling the current 112-student enrollment in AP classes.

The grant will not only pay out the cash rewards, but will pay for additional teacher training and new equipment.

Savage on Obama: "He's an Afro-Leninist, and I know he's dangerous"

Michael Savage asserted that Sen. Barack Obama is "a Marxist in his heart," adding, "He's an Afro-Leninist, and I know he's dangerous." Savage also claimed that if Sen. Hillary Clinton wins the election, "you're gonna get more of the lesbian-feminist propaganda thrown in your face than with [Sen. John] McCain, but other than that, it's gonna be almost the same exact -- the same exact administration."

American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA) Endorse Obama for President

As a gun rights organization we have not come to this decision lightly. We were formed two years ago because our research shows that millions of gun owners wanted a change. They not only wanted an organization that would protect their gun rights but an organization that was also committed to the protection of their communities as well as the protection of our lands.

We reached out to the Obama campaign several weeks ago to offer our support and approval as was reported by Paul Bedard of US News and World Report.

McCain Girls a Hoax

“We were pretty amazed that after the video came out, people were confused as to whether or not it was real,” Ms. Bernard said. “That’s when I think we said ‘Hey, can we actually pull off a hoax here? How long can we keep it going?’ ”

Many viewers called the videos cringe-inducing, but at least one person was receptive. “I think they’re wonderful,” Mr. McCain said on the Fox News Channel last week. “I have watched that video several times.”

Ha!

Democrats Sue FEC over McCain Finances

McCain's lawyers say his alleged violation is no violation at all. When McCain's campaign was about to go broke over the winter, he got a line of credit from a bank. He had already applied for public financing. But when his fundraising got better, McCain declared that he was withdrawing from the public financing program.

The DNC lawsuit says he can't do that — because he had already made financial use of his access to public funds. The Democrats point out that McCain's campaign manager guaranteed to the bank that McCain could qualify for public money in the future.

Could this possibly disqualify McCain??

Union audience boos as Clinton criticizes Obama

"I understand my opponent came this morning and spent a lot of his time attacking me," Hillary Clinton suggested to a union gathering of steelworkers in Pittsburgh on Monday.

As she went on to say, "Well, you know, I know that many of you, like me, were disappointed by recent remarks that he made," scattered boos and calls of "No" could clearly be heard from the audience.

"I think it's important that, you know, we give people the chance to really compare and contrast us," Clinton concluded.

Is Obama An Elitist?

Three senior CNN political reporters show their disgust with Clinton Inc and McCain. It suggests that some in the media realize how important this election is and want it covered fairly. Randi Rhodes’s Website and Forum

Air America Radio took down listing the “Randi Rhodes Show” on their website and redirected the show’s link to their home page before releasing the statement on her departure. Concerns have been raised that Rhodes’s website will no longer be available. A check of the Whois database list Rhodes as the owner of the domain name. It is likely Air America’s server hosted her site. Therefore I surmise once the site is transferred to a different server and the site’s URL propagates through the Internet DNS, the site will become available again.

Good news for her!

I'm no legal expert, but I think her database (of members) should be HER property, NOT AAR'S.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out...

Obama Spending May Swamp McCain, End Republican Edge

Barack Obama will likely overwhelm John McCain in campaign spending, if the Illinois senator wins his party's presidential nomination, in what would be the first time in four decades a Democrat will enjoy such an advantage.

And he could do it whether he accepts federal campaign- finance limits or raises all the money privately.

This is good news.

50 Great Comedy Sketches

There's no more sure-fire way to kill something's intrinsic comedic value than to try to examine what makes it funny. The minute you start thinking, you stop laughing. So why, then, have Nerve and IFC.com devoted an enormous amount of time, manpower, monetary resources, server space and posh catered lunches to the pursuit of ranking the boob tube's finest sketch comedy offerings?

In part, we're here because magical new technology (*coughYouTubecough*) allows us to do more than just pontificate for paragraphs on end — now we can pontificate for paragraphs on end and provide audio-visual evidence to back up those pontifications. We provide the context, share our thoughts and feelings and let you commence with the guffawing and, naturally, the disagreeing. After all, the comedy sketch — short, sweet, completely silly or shot through with social commentary — worms its way into the public mind like nothing else, and has easily made the leap to the web when other forms have faltered.

Spy photos reveal 'secret launch site' for Iran's long-range missiles

The secret site where Iran is suspected of developing long-range ballistic missiles capable of reaching targets in Europe has been uncovered by new satellite photographs.

The imagery has pinpointed the facility from where the Iranians launched their Kavoshgar 1 “research rocket” on February 4, claiming that it was in connection with their space programme.

Analysis of the photographs taken by the Digital Globe QuickBird satellite four days after the launch has revealed a number of intriguing features that indicate to experts that it is the same site where Iran is focusing its efforts on developing a ballistic missile with a range of about 6,000km (4,000 miles).

The only way McInsane gets elected is if we have a preemptive war with Iran. And, mark my words, they'll damn well try to start one this year.

Bill Clinton revives tale of wife's Bosnia misadventure in inaccurate retelling

Bill:

But there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it, what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y'all see all that. Oh, they blew it up.

Let me just tell you. The president of Bosnia and Gen. Wesley Clark -- who was there making peace where we'd lost three peacekeepers who had to ride on a dangerous mountain road because it was too dangerous to go the regular, safe way -- both defended her because they pointed out that when her plane landed in Bosnia, she had to go up to the bulletproof part of the plane, in the front. Everybody else had to put their flack jackets underneath the seat in case they got shot at. And everywhere they went they were covered by Apache helicopters. So they just abbreviated the arrival ceremony.

Now I say that because, what really has mattered is that even then she was interested in our troops. And I think she was the first first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to go into a combat zone. And you woulda thought, you know, that she'd robbed a bank the way they carried on about this. And some of them when they're 60 they'll forget something when they're tired at 11:00 at night, too.

The Truth:

(1) Her most glaringly wrong telling of the tale, on March 17, 2008, was in the morning.
(2) She actually told versions of the story several times. (And none was at night.)
(3) In an e-mail to journalist Eric Jansson, former acting Bosnian president Ejup Ganic said "we didn't expect snipers," though, "we still believed that some positions on the hills were occupied by radical Serbs, so I was worried about the overall safety."
(4) Not according to the pilot Colonel William "Goose" Changose (Ret.), who said, "nobody under my watch has ever directed anyone to sit on their flak jackets. ... We do not direct people to sit on their flak jackets."
(5) It wasn't immediate at all -- it was 11 days later, first in an editorial board meeting with the Philadelphia Inquirer/Philadelphia Daily News, then later in a press availability.
(6) She never apologized.
(7) It was 1996, not 1995.
(8) He qualified it with "I think," but then-first lady Pat Nixon went to a combat zone in Saigon, Vietnam, in July 1969.

These two are unbelievable. Truly.

RANDI RHODES JOINS NOVA M RADIO

The Nova M Radio Network is thrilled to announce the addition of “The Randi Rhodes Show” to its nationally syndicated talent offerings beginning this Monday, April 14, 2008.

Randi Rhodes is the #1 rated progressive talk radio host in the nation.

Nova M CEO John Manzo says, “I just can’t stop smiling - Randi is simply the biggest and the best. Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy under one roof – talk about TALENT!”

Randi Rhodes adds, “With Manzo at helm of Nova M, I am truly going to work for the best of the best. He is radio elite…and I am too . I’m home, I’m home, I’m home!”

“The Randi Rhodes Show” will air live Mon-Fri from 3-6pm Eastern on The Nova M Radio Network.

Good for her, but, ahem, Ed Schultz has far more listeners than she. It's a wild stretch to say she's the #1 Progressive talker!

ESSMB Extends Welcome To Any Former Randi Rhodes Message Board Members

As the admin of the Ed Schultz Message Board, I'd like to take this moment to invite any former Randi Message boarders over to our board. I know our relationship hasn't always been the best, but I'd like to make this offer in the spirit of goodwill.

Since I personally validate all new accounts, there is usually some delay before you can post there. But, if you leave a comment here, I'll expedite the process.

While I disagreed with Randi's comments that led to this, I personally think AAR has made the worst mistake in their history by losing her.

Hopefully, she'll be back on the air soon in some capacity. We need as many progressive voices out there as possible.

Regards,

Randi Rhodes Quits Air America

Last week Air America suspended Randi Rhodes for abusive, obscene language at a recent public appearance in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.

Air America Media was informed last night by Ms. Rhodes that she has chosen to terminate her employment with the company.

We wish her well and thank her for past services to Air America. We will soon announce exciting new talent and programming that will accelerate Air America’s growth in the future.

I kind of expected this, but AAR will be the one that ultimately suffers.

Update: WOW! They didn't waste any time! Her message board is completely gone already!

In Oregon, Clinton Makes False Claim About Her Iraq Record Vs. Obama's

In Eugene, Ore., Saturday. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., attempted to change the measure by which anyone might assess who criticized the Iraq war first, her or Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., by saying those keeping records should start in January 2005, when Obama joined the Senate. (A measure that conveniently avoids her October 2002 vote to authorize use of force against Iraq at a time that Obama was speaking out against the war.) She claimed that using that measure, she criticized the war in Iraq before Obama did.

But Clinton's claim was false.

Clinton on Saturday told Oregonians, "when Sen. Obama came to the Senate he and I have voted exactly the same except for one vote. And that happens to be the facts. We both voted against early deadlines. I actually starting criticizing the war in Iraq before he did."

It's an odd way to measure opposition to the war -- comparing who gave the first criticism of the war in Iraq starting in January 2005, ignoring Obama's opposition to the war throughout 2003 and 2004. (And Clinton's vote for it.)

But even if one were to employ this "Start Counting in January 2005" measurement, Clinton did not criticize the war in Iraq first.

Caught again... How sad, really.

Ed Schultz Not Backing Down (Video)

I'm sorry, John, the label sticks," Schultz told CNN's John Roberts. "John McCain is a warmonger."

Good for him!

McCain temper boiled over in '92 tirade, called wife a 'cunt'

At one point, Cindy playfully twirled McCain’s hair and said, “You’re getting a little thin up there.” McCain’s face reddened, and he responded, “At least I don’t plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you cunt.” McCain’s excuse was that it had been a long day. If elected president of the United States, McCain would have many long days.

Stand Up For Ed Schultz! The Warmongers Are Upset For Being Called Warmongers

Last night, at an Obama Fundraiser, Ed called McCain a Warmonger. Now the McCain camp is calling on Obama to disavow Ed's comments.

But, let's face it, he is a warmonger!

Feel free to voice your support for Ed here in this thread. (You'll need to register first, and I'll validate new accounts early this evening)

Mr. Schultz, whose program is syndicated nationally, made the remarks while revving up a group of Obama supporters at a $100-a-head fund raiser at the North Dakota Democratic Party’s convention in Grand Forks. As soon as the Republican National Committee got word of the attack, it issued a statement lambasting Mr. Schultz and calling on Mr. Obama to repudiate the characterization of the presumptive Republican nominee for President.

*** UPDATE ***
Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki says in a statement, "John McCain is not a warmonger and should not be described as such. He's a supporter of a war that Senator Obama believes should have never been authorized and never been waged."

Air America Host Randi Rhodes Suspended For Calling Hillary A "Big F*cking Whore"

Air America host Randi Rhodes called both Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton "whores" in a recent appearance, seen below. Rhodes, who hosts a weekday radio show on Air America, said to the cheering crowd, "What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is! She's such a fucking whore!" She then proceeded to say, "Hillary is a big fucking whore, too" to a mixed audience reaction. "You know why she's a big fucking whore? Because her deal is always, 'Read the fine print, asshole!'"

This was completely over the top and she deserved the suspension. I don't personally care much for her show, but I hope it isn't too long before she's allowed back on.

Bill Clinton's tirade stunned some delegates

The Bill Clinton who met privately with California's superdelegates at last weekend's state convention was a far cry from the congenial former president who afterward publicly urged fellow Democrats to "chill out" over the race between his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Barack Obama.

In fact, before his speech Clinton had one of his famous meltdowns Sunday, blasting away at former presidential contender Bill Richardson for having endorsed Obama, the media and the entire nomination process.

"It was one of the worst political meetings I have ever attended," one superdelegate said.

According to those at the meeting, Clinton - who flew in from Chicago with bags under his eyes - was classic old Bill at first, charming and making small talk with the 15 or so delegates who gathered in a room behind the convention stage.

Talk about a meltdown!

Just another example of how they are only in it for the power...

Obama Endorsed by Lee Hamilton

Former Indiana Rep. Lee Hamilton endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for president Wednesday, praising his ability to transcend partisan division and calling his foreign policy outlook "pragmatic, visionary, and tough."

Hamilton, who during a three-decade House career rose to be chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Intelligence committees, also was vice chairman of the Sept. 11 commission. His endorsement could boost the Democratic hopeful's national security standing.

"Barack Obama has the best opportunity to create a new sense of national unity and to transcend divisions within this country, not by ignoring them or smoothing them over, but by working together with candor and civility to meet our challenges," Hamilton said in a statement released by Obama's campaign.

On Obama's foreign policy stance, Hamilton said: "He will work with our friends and allies. Obama will strengthen our ability to use all the tools of American power, and relentlessly promote the American values of freedom and justice for all people."

I'll say it again. Obama clearly has the momentum. If Hillary wants to maintain any credibility, it's time for her to gracefully exit stage left. (If even that is possible at this point).

Clinton backer: Obama will win

A key Hillary Clinton supporter appeared to be a bit off message during a recent interview with a Canadian radio station.

"If I had to make a prediction right now, I'd say Barack Obama is going to be the next president," Missouri Rep. Emanuel Cleaver said in a Canadian public radio interview this weekend. "I will be stunned if he's not the next president of the United States."

Cleaver, an African-American, endorsed Clinton's White House bid last year and formally remained aligned with the New York senator even as other black leaders shifted their support to Barack Obama.

But after his district voted for Obama in the February 5 primary, Cleaver did indicate he would consider voting for the Illinois senator at the party's convention if the delegate count was extremely tight between the two candidates.

If they know it's inevitable, why is she still running?
