Not surprisingly, it illuminated the complicated politics and policy that go along with raising the national borrowing limit these days. And also not surprisingly, perhaps, it went nowhere, concluding with the somewhat comical scene of Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (R) of Kentucky filibustering his own proposal.Wow! I'm flabberghasted! I'll be posting more frequently from now on.

Maddow: Ryan spoke at fringe conference Friday alongside ‘former terrorist’
Gaffney is an anti-Islamist who trucks in elaborate conspiracy theories, and who authored a 10-part video series called, “The Muslim Brotherhood in America: The Enemy Within,” which makes all manner of wild allegations that the U.S. government has been infiltrated by Islamic extremists, including Secretary of State Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, wife of disgraced congressman Rep. Anthony Weiner.
Earlier this year, Secretary Clinton’s motorcade was attacked in Egypt after Gaffney spread a rumor through right wing websites that Clinton had rigged the Egyptian elections to favor the Muslim Brotherhood. The charges were taken seriously by parties opposed to the Brotherhood in Egypt, resulting in the eruption of violence.
“That’s these guys,” Maddow said of the Values Voters Summit. ”That’s the event Paul Ryan spoke at today.”
Wow! Santorum really nailed it in the preceding post.
Rick Santorum: Conservatives Will "Never Have The Elite, Smart People On Our Side"
"We will never have the media on our side, ever, in this country," Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, told the audience at the Omni Shoreham hotel. "We will never have the elite, smart people on our side."
Leader of the "morans." LOL.

Rumsfeld defends Romney: Embassy attacked because of ‘American weakness’
Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld is defending Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney for scoring political points by blaming “American weakness” for attacks on U.S. embassies in Egypt and Libya — even though terrorists attacked U.S. embassies 12 times during President George W. Bush’s tenure.
Why does Rumsfield hate America?
“It’s disgraceful that the Obama administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks,” Romney had said over a statement from the U.S. embassy that denounced an anti-Muslim movie prior to the attacks.
And that is an outright lie!

Cheney responds to Obama’s reportedly poor intelligence briefings attendance
“If President Obama were participating in his intelligence briefings on a regular basis then perhaps he would understand why people are so offended at his efforts to take sole credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden,” Cheney told The Daily Caller in an email through a spokeswoman.
“Those who deserve the credit are the men and women in our military and intelligence communities who worked for many years to track him down. They are the ones who deserve the thanks of a grateful nation.”
This is really rich, coming from one of the guys that oversaw the largest intelligence intelligence failure in our history.
Wow!

Paul Ryan Address: Convention Speech Built On Demonstrably Misleading Assertions
Ryan then noted that Obama, while campaigning for president, promised that a GM plant in Wisconsin would not shut down. "That plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that’s how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight," Ryan said.
Except Obama didn't promise that. And the plant closed in December 2008 -- while George W. Bush was president.
Did we expect anything less?

Paul Ryan: Murderer of Opportunity, Political Coward, Candidate for Vice President of the United States Read more: http://www.esquire.com/blogs/polit
Gotta love Charile!
Make no mistake. In his decision to make Paul Ryan, the zombie-eyed granny-starver from Wisconsin, his running mate, Romney finally surrendered the tattered remnants of his soul not only to the extreme base of his party, but also to extremist economic policies, and to an extremist view of the country he seeks to lead. This is unimaginable to those of us who lived here under Romney's barely perceptible stewardship of the Commonwealth (God save it!). If he'd even hinted that he agreed with a fraction of a smidgen of a portion of the policies on which Ryan has built his career, Romney would have been hanging from the Sacred Cod by the middle of 2005. And it's hard not to notice that the way the decision got leaked — in the dead of a Friday night, with the Olympics still going on, after two weeks in which Romney and his campaign had demonstrated all the political skills of a handball — fairly dripped with flopsweat.
